This season has brought on so much creativity in wedding planning as brides shift to micro weddings and elopements. We asked Promise Mountain to answer our questions about planning an intimate and adventurous wedding.

Who is Promise Mountain?

Promise Mountain is a full service adventure wedding company that was started after @kaylapotterbaum spent 3 years living in the fjords of Norway.

“I had never seen a place more beautiful and somewhere along the long had this crazy idea come to mind… what if I took care of all the typical wedding details for couples and guided them on private wedding adventures to these incredible spots I’ve come to know and love?”— The idea took root in Norway but wasn’t launched until Michaela made Nashville her stateside home in 2016. 

The heart behind what we do is to bring adventure + wonder+ covenant to the most epic spots on earth and visually tell the story of our couple. We usually take the couple only or the couple + their best friends and family on these trips. It’s an extremely connecting and intimate experience that is unlike any other life adventure. We currently offer packages in Norway, Ireland, Nashville and Glacier National Park Montana. Each package includes: Professional Elopement Planning, location scouting, officiant w/ceremony, Photography, Flowers, Cake, etc… 

What is your favorite part of micro weddings/elopements?

We love how fun and stress free these types of weddings can be. It’s so intimate and special, there really isn’t anything else like it out there!

What is your best advice to a bride planning a micro wedding or elopement?

Right now, it would be to stay open minded and flexible! We work a lot in Norway for example and all our clients planning to marry there are pretty much in a holding pattern or are moving their plans stateside to work our teams here. Even here in the US, regulations change daily right now, but if you are a Tennessee bride wanting to marry here, we have some of the most flexible rules in the country and eloping in Tennessee is really easy right now!

Where are your favorite locations?

We now have teams on the ground in Norway, Ireland, Nashville and Glacier National Park in Montana. Norway is my all time favorite but all our locations are dream spots for me personally.

How long does it take to plan a micro wedding or elopement?

We’ve planned elopements in as little as 48 hours and micro-weddings in as little as 3 weeks! I wouldn’t recommend this if your are DIYing this plan on your own, but would instead recommend 3-6 months advance if you plan to pull the elements together yourself.

Any fun or favorite stories you’d like to share?

We’ve had so many hilarious and sweet moments on the mountains all over but this last summer, we had a large bald eagle soar around the backside of the wedding couple while they were saying their vows during the ceremony…it was pretty magical to take in! You can’t make those moments up and when they just naturally happen out in nature like that, everything stands still for a moment.
