Hi Brides! We love sharing the details of Fab Frocks Brides weddings and catching up with our brides! Today we are so excited to share the details of our sweet Fab Frocks Bride Rachel’s fall wedding!

The Details

Rachel and Mike’s wedding took place on a crisp autumn day in London, Ontario. “The wedding fell over Thanksgiving weekend (in Canada) and took place at a ski chalet,” Rachel shared. Boler Mountain was the setting for the fall wedding.

 Ash Buck Photography and DC Bowman Photography captured the day. Meanwhile, Rachel is a photographer herself, so she edited the photos from the day!

Hiring the perfect vendors was a big part of Rachel’s wedding planning. “When we hired our vendors, it was important to us to have people we knew and wanted to be there with us on our wedding day – vendors that felt like family and friends!” she said.

Fernhill Floral & Design Co. provided florals for the wedding. Meanwhile, the planning included a lot of DIYs — Rachel handled numerous aspects of the day! “I planned the wedding, designed all of the stationery, created the signage, made the cake, did my own makeup, and even edited all of the photos myself (perks of being a wedding photographer I guess),” she explained.

The couple wanted a very elegant and classic wedding. With that in mind, they requested their guests dress in black formal attire.

The couple was legally married about seven months before the fall wedding, so this was a time to celebrate with their loved ones! “We kept it a small wedding and celebrated with our families and closest friends,” Rachel said. A family member performed the ceremony, and then the couple got to spend the day with their loved ones celebrating their marriage!

The Dress

Rachel came to Fabulous Frocks while visiting from Canada, where she is from. “When I started looking for my wedding dress I was stuck between wanting something very clean, simple, and timeless and something with full lace that was romantic with a bit of spice!” she said.

Rachel’s appointment was with our manager, Rachel, and the two bonded over their shared name, as well as the fact that they attended the same college and had mutual friends!

Rachel expressed to her consultant that she liked the idea of a strapless fitted gown. Like the bride recalled, she was unsure on if she wanted something sleek and clean, or full of lace. With that in mind, consultant Rachel pulled a wildcard gown — a fitted off the shoulder gown with a mix of lace and crepe. 

“The first dress that Rachel pulled was the one!” the bride recalled. “It was the perfect mixture of everything I wanted in a dress. It brought me to tears and I knew I couldn’t go back to Canada without that dress in hand.”

Rachel said yes to 44267 by Sincerity Bridal. The gown featured a beaded lace bodice, complete with detachable off the shoulder straps. In addition, the fitted crepe skirt was adorned with buttons down the back.

Advice to Brides

Rachel advises brides-to-be to remember that the wedding is about you and your partner’s marriage. “It’s not the beginning of your relationship, but just a way of continuing and enhancing the love you already have for each other,” she said. “Your wedding day is about the marriage between the two of you, no one else. Don’t forget that.”

The Wedding

The couple loved having so many loved ones in one room for their fall wedding. However, Rachel’s favorite part of the wedding was the golden hour photos that she and her husband took.

“Maybe that’s the photographer in me talking, but the entire day was quite cloudy, and just at the perfect time the sun finally came out!” she recalled. “We were taking pictures at the top of the ski hill and it felt like it was just the two of us on top of the world with the sun shining down on us. It truly was the best moment of the day!”

The couple honeymooned in Montreal, Quebec! “The city was so beautiful in the fall!” she said.
