Royal Wedding Predictions

April 19, 2018

Today marks one month until the royal wedding – May 19th can not get here fast enough! The excitement is building in anticipation for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding was in 2011, so it has been several years since an heir to the throne tied the knot. Here are some of the details for the big day and some sketches of what designers think Meghan’s gown will look like!

Different from his older brother, Prince Harry and Meghan will have their ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle at noon. Though it may seem that having seating for 800 guests would be plenty, this is quite small compared to Westminster Abbey with seated capacity of 2,000. Similar to the normal wedding, the core aspects include the service, music, decorations and reception that will all be paid for by the royal family. Violet Bakery’s Claire Ptak will be making the lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate bright flavors of spring. The flowers will be branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, and white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves.

Following the ceremony, they will have a carriage procession from St George’s Chapel through Windsor town and returning to Windsor Castle. There, they will take the official photographs by Alexi Lubomirski. Later that evening, the Prince of Wales will give a private reception for the couple and close friends and family.

Meghan Markle’s wedding dress is arguably the biggest fashion commission of the year! “The princess-to-be seems to have a lot of personality, which is what royalty should be about,” Vogue fashion critic Anders Christian Madsen shared, “so I would love to see her in something brave and daring on her wedding day…” Below are some sketches by several top designers of what they believe will be the wedding look.
