Hi Brides! We are so excited to share the details of our bride Skylar’s December wedding!
Skylar and Johnson were married December 2nd, 2023 at Southside Church of Christ in Hopkinsville, KY. “It was the most perfect day and I hope to remember all the little things about it forever,” she said.
Jacey Mallory was the makeup artist for the December wedding, while Tiffany Brunson and Karlee Daniel with Encore off Noel did the bridal party’s hair. Meanwhile, Ruffled Willow arranged beautiful florals for the day. Lindsey Hollingsworth of Tupelo, MS photographed the December wedding. Skylar shared that she “took the most PHENOMENAL photos I’ve ever seen.”
Skylar described her December wedding as magical, joyful, and perfect. “I really mean perfect; nothing went wrong (and you know they say something always goes wrong),” she said. “The day was everything I dreamed it would be and more.”
Skylar shared that her favorite part of the December wedding was getting to spend time with her husband before the ceremony. During this time, they did a private first look!
“Our private first look was so sweet and I would highly recommend to any bride,” she said. The couple also went to downtown Hopkinsville to take photos. “We loved having cars honk as they passed by,” she recalled. “We even had a police officer congratulate us over her intercom! It was all so memorable and I absolutely loved it.”
Skylar came to the boutique with a decent idea of what she wanted. “I’ve always wanted a fitted dress (and I was right about that),” she shared. “Other ideas I went in with were some type of straps and a low back, but I went in open minded.”
“Finding my dress was an amazing process,” Skylar recalled. “Cyndal was my stylist and she was the sweetest. She pulled beautiful dresses that matched exactly what I thought I wanted.”
“I tried on a dress that looked identical to ones on my Pinterest board and I didn’t like it at all on me.” From there, Skylar and her consultant pivoted and tried ballgowns to see a different shape.
“They were gorgeous and I loved them,” she said. “Then I began to freak out internally (because I now had no idea what I wanted anymore) and I feel like Cyndal recognized that.”
With that in mind, Cyndal helped Skylar pivot back to fitted dresses, just with a different style. “I loved the shape, but not the fabric or train,” she said. “It was at this point that Cyndal, with the help of Rachel, pulled THE dress. I knew as soon as I saw it on the hanger that it was the one.”
“Once I stepped onto that platform in front of the mirror my jaw dropped. Everyone cried. I got all jacked up and there was no doubt: this was my dress.”
Skylar said yes to Kate, which is a mikado fit to flare that is part of our Fabulous Frocks Exclusive Label! The gown features flattering princess seams and a stunning lace train! She paired the gown with a layered veil with a horsehair trim.
When reflecting on the day and what advice she’d give to future brides, Skylar said to slow down and enjoy the wedding day. “Take everything in, because it goes by quick. When else do you get an entire day dedicated to you??? (And your future spouse, but we all know it’s really about the bride).”
In addition, she shared a practical piece of planning advice for the day and advises brides to have a receiving line at the reception. “It’s an easy way to see everyone, and then you don’t have the stress of making sure you talk to everyone there!”
The couple honeymooned in the Smoky Mountains! “It was the best getaway with my husband by my side. I sure do love being married and I’m so happy that I chose Fabulous Frocks to help get me ready for my perfect wedding day!”
Congratulations, Skylar and Johnson!
