Our wedding day was truly everything I dreamed of and more.
From the very beginning, our goal wasn’t to have the biggest wedding; it was to create meaningful memories as we started our life together. We intentionally chose a smaller guest list, which honestly was one of the hardest parts of planning. But looking back, it was one of the best decisions we made. It allowed us to be fully present, spend quality time with every guest, and truly soak in every moment.
We were married at Cloudland at McLemore Resort on Lookout Mountain in Georgia, and it was absolutely magical. When searching for a venue, I knew I wanted stunning mountain views and a place where our family and friends could enjoy more than just a wedding weekend; I wanted it to feel like a special trip. Cloudland was exactly that. The views are breathtaking, the resort is gorgeous, and it’s a place Robb and I already know we’ll return to for anniversaries and future vacations.
We had an incredible vendor team, but there are three vendors who will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Our wedding planner, Katie O, was nothing short of amazing. She is thoughtful, responsive, and genuinely cares about every bride she works with. She brought my Pinterest board to life in ways I never imagined. As someone whose faith is deeply important to me, it was especially meaningful to walk through the planning process alongside someone who shared those same values and helped me prepare for one of the most important commitments of my life.
Our photographer, Kelsey Young, gave us a gift I’ll treasure forever. Not only is she unbelievably talented, but she’s also one of the kindest and most fun people to have by your side on your wedding day. She captured every emotion, every detail, and even moments I completely missed in real time. Every time I look at our photos, I find a new memory to cherish.
Our videographers, Madelyn Shayne Photo, a husband-and-wife team, were equally incredible. When choosing a videographer, I made storytelling my top priority. I wanted our video to capture not just Robb and me, but the people who made the day so special. They perfectly documented the laughter, the tears, the relationships, and all the little moments in between. They’re wonderful people doing amazing work.

I went into dress shopping with a pretty clear vision: timeless, classic, and if possible… a giant bow. Beyond that, I was open to anything.
I only visited two bridal stores and tried on a total of eight dresses, four on Friday and four at Fabulous Frocks the next morning. The dress I ultimately chose was the second dress I tried on at my appointment.
My mom and one of my closest friends joined me, and the funny thing is that I knew it was the dress before I even looked in the mirror. The moment I walked out and saw their reactions, I knew. Their faces said everything. Once I saw myself, it was game over; I had found the one.
Now for the real “one.”
If you’ve ever been frustrated with online dating, just know you’re not alone. I spent years bouncing between “I’m done with this!” and “Well, if I don’t try, how am I supposed to meet someone?” It felt like a never-ending cycle.
Looking back, I’m so grateful for that season because it taught me to enjoy my life while I waited.
And then I met Robb.
He was 1,000% worth every bad date, awkward conversation, and moment of wondering if I’d ever find my person. He’s kind, gentle, hardworking, strong in his faith, and now he’s my husband.
We love traveling, hiking, spending time with family and friends, watching football together, taking long walks, and simply doing life together. We met online, and somehow we’ve never stopped having fun. I know the best adventures are still ahead of us.

Have a vision but keep an open mind.
You may end up loving something completely different than what you imagined. At the same time, try not to bring a huge crowd to your appointment. This moment is special for the people you’ve chosen to join you, and too many opinions can sometimes make the decision harder than it needs to be.
The best wedding-planning tip I have is surprisingly simple:
Create a separate email address for wedding planning.
My fiancé and I shared one wedding email for all vendor communication. It kept our personal and work inboxes from becoming complete chaos and allowed us both to stay informed throughout the entire process.
My second tip is one I now recommend to every bride:
Create two Pinterest boards.
The first board is your “I love this” board. Add everything: dream ideas, favorite dresses, impossible ideas, budget-stretching ideas, random inspiration, all of it.
The second board is your “must-have” board. Only include the things you absolutely want reflected on your wedding day.
Then share that second board with every vendor. This was a game changer for us. Our florist immediately understood my vision, and all our vendors could see how the different pieces of the wedding fit together. It made communication easier and helped everyone bring the same vision to life.
And one bonus piece of advice:
If possible, have someone who truly knows you as a couple officiate your wedding. Our officiant is a dear friend who knows and loves us well, and the ceremony felt incredibly personal because of it. We’ll treasure those memories forever.

There is absolutely no way I can pick just one.
A few moments I’ll never forget:

Any fun or meaningful touches you’d love to share?
One of my favorite details was writing a handwritten note to every single guest and placing it at their seat.
Words matter a lot to me, and I wanted every person there to know how much they mean to us. It was a lot of work, but hearing how much those notes impacted our guests made every minute worth it.
Use the POV app, no notes!! Overall, so fun for your guests and you and your husband to look at after the wedding weekend.
If your photographer also does “film,” add it to your package. Trust me, it’s special and worth it.
And for a fun touch, we did a photo dash during the reception to kick off the dance floor.
If you’ve never heard of it, look it up. It was one of the most energetic and memorable moments of the night, and our guests absolutely loved it.

I’ve been to a lot of weddings, and my goal was never to make ours different. My goal was simply for people to walk away saying, “That was so Lindsey and Robb.”
I don’t love being the center of attention, so creating opportunities for genuine one-on-one connection with the people we love was incredibly important to us.
At the end of the day, I just wanted to marry Robb and celebrate our story with the people who have supported us along the way. That’s exactly what happened.
And can we talk about the post-wedding blues for a second? They’re real.
Not because I miss planning which rentals I want or the photo planning list, but because of the people. Throughout the engagement, I got daily phone calls with my mom, more time with my best friends than our busy schedules usually allow, bridal showers, couple showers, girls’ trips, dress fittings, appointments, and countless moments together.
On the drive home after our wedding weekend, I told Robb, “I’m so sad, but that was the best weekend of my life.”
Not because the wedding was over, but because every person we love and who loves us so well had been together in one place for 72 hours. What a gift that is.
As someone whose love language is quality time, our wedding weekend felt like a dream. I’ll always cherish those memories, and my hope for every future bride and groom is that they pause long enough to soak it all in. The flowers, the photos, and the details are wonderful, but the people are what make it unforgettable. ❤️
