Real Bride: A Whimsical Fairytale Wedding!

June 11, 2021

Happy Friday! We recently caught up with our real bride, Mayumi! Mayumi married her husband, Levi, this March! The newlyweds met in college at Wichita State University! Mayumi was the Vice President of Membership for an on-campus event planning organization and Levi came to one of her potential member meetings! A year later, Mayumi moved to Kansas City for school and Levi followed her! The rest is history!

Mayumi’s Wedding

Mayumi and Levi became husband and wife on March 13th, 2021! We asked Mayumi to describe her wedding, “Okay, remember the wedding scene in Twilight: Breaking Dawn: Part 1? Where Bella walks out into the Cullen’s backyard, which is draped head to toe in hanging white wisteria? That’s exactly the look that I was going for – but on a budget! I wanted something straight out of a woodland fairytale. Levi’s tux included an emerald green velvet suit jacket, which we tried to complement with gold accents for the decorations, vintage Edison bulbs, and lots of baby’s breath.”

“My favorite memory from the day of our wedding aside from saying “I do”actually took place after the frenzy of declaring our marriage in front of everyone and being immediately whisked away to take our photos – we had a few minutes to really bask in the moment we were in once we did our Grand Entrance into the reception. I found myself sitting at the head table, my hand in my new husband’s hand, and surrounded in a room full of the closest and dearest people in our lives.”

Mayumi’s Dress

Mayumi wore a whimsical White April aline gown! We asked Mayumi how she knew she found the perfect gown, “My dress was beautiful! When I visited Fabulous Frocks, I was asked what three words I would use to describe my vision. I think I answered with feminine, flowery, and whimsical – which is exactly what I got! The only thing that I had changed was to have snap-on buttons attached to the back of my dress straps so that I could add a long, glittery cape!”

Advice from Our Real Bride

“I like to believe that the imperfections of the day are what makes your wedding day unique. My shoe strap breaking as soon as I started walking down the aisle and the fact that I threw my bouquet too hard during the bouquet toss and broke a hanging light were not planned moments, but they made our wedding day very…us.”

Special Memories from Our Real Bride

“My favorite take away from the wedding is our polaroid guest book. We left a polaroid camera with lots of spare film and washi tape on a table, and had guests take a selfie and stick it inside the book themselves. The pictures of our friends and family looking carefree, smiling, and having a blast at our wedding will forever be priceless. I can’t wait to look through the guest book in twenty years and see all of their faces again and relive our wedding day.”
