Real Bride: Alex’s Fall Wedding

March 16, 2024

Hi Brides! We love catching up with our brides to hear all about their special day! Today we are so excited to share the details of Alex’s fall wedding!

The Fall Wedding Details

Alex and Maxwell’s fall wedding took place on November 4th of 2023. The wedding took place at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

“The wedding day was everything I could’ve ever imagined! The weather was beautiful and we truly did have the best vendors and wedding party,” Alex recalled.

Alex described the fall wedding as emotional, loving and exciting. She and Maxwell have been together for over 11 years! “We were so excited to finally be able to marry each other. It has been such a long time coming and there were so many emotions all throughout the day,” she said.

The wedding colors were maroon and navy. Therefore, the bridesmaids wore maroon dresses, and the groomsmen all wore dark grey suits with maroon ties.

The Vendors

Lyndsie with Warnersmith Events was the wedding planner for the fall wedding. “She just made sure everything ran so smoothly and perfectly,” Alex shared. “I have continually told her how much I appreciate all of her help. She made sure my day was everything I wanted and more.”

Meanwhile, Color in the Ville did hair and makeup for the day. “I cannot recommend Kayla and her team more,” Alex said. “She made everyone feel so beautiful and the makeup looked so natural.”

Additionally, floral arrangements were provided by Jamie Fairman Floral Design. “She did such an amazing job picking out the most beautiful flowers for our fall wedding,” said Alex.

Photos by Kaela Jean photographed the day. “She did the most amazing job,” Alex shared. “She is so good at making you feel so comfortable in front of the camera.”

Ivory Horse Films was the videographer for the fall wedding. “I had met with him for calls several times before the wedding,” said the bride. “He was such a down to earth person and made sure that he was there to capture all the extremely special moments. I can’t wait to see the full film!”

Although Alex and Maxwell did not do a first look, Alex did do a first look with her dad and her bridesmaids!

“It was so emotional for me,” she shared. “It was such a special moment for Maxwell and I to see each other for the first time when I walked down the aisle!”

The Dress

Alex’s closest family and friends came to Nashville in December of 2022 to go shopping with her for her dress! They had a full weekend of appointments before coming to Fabulous Frocks.

“I had my mom, stepmom, maid of honor and my best friend since 5th grade join me to go dress shopping with me,” she recalled. Her stepmom flew into town to be there for dress shopping. Therefore, Alex certainly wanted to find the dress while everyone was in town.

The shopping-filled weekend included Fabulous Frocks as the last stop. “Honestly, before I walked in I was starting to feel overwhelmed by how many dresses I had already tried on all weekend,” Alex shared.

“I had one dress I tried at another store that I really liked, but it wasn’t perfect for me. It would need a lot of alterations to make it just what I wanted.”

When thinking about her dream wedding dress, Alex always envisioned herself in long sleeves for her fall wedding.

“I really liked lace A-line dresses, but didn’t know exactly how much lace I wanted on it,” she said. “I wanted to make sure that I was able to move around on the dance floor. At the end of the day, I just wanted something that I was comfortable in and felt my most beautiful in.”

Alex shared that as soon as she walked into Fabulous Frocks, she immediately felt calmed and relaxed. This was thanks to her consultant, Cyndal.

“Cyndal jumped right into it and honestly just felt like part of the family,” she said. “She had picked several dresses already for me, and the first dress she picked for me was my dream dress!”

The dress was an A-line with long sleeves, just as Alex wanted for her fall wedding. The gown featured floral lace and a flowy tulle skirt.

“It fit me absolutely perfect and was everything I had been looking for,” she continued. “I tried on a couple other dresses that she pulled for me, but just knew that was the perfect one.”

Alex realized that she couldn’t get the first dress out of her head as she continued to try on gowns. Therefore, everything she was trying on was compared to it. She got back in the gown and said yes to the dress!

“I am so thankful to have found my dream dress and to have had Cyndal there cheering me on the whole time!”

Alex said yes to the Stella York A-line. She paired it with a cathedral lace veil from Sara Gabriel, which perfectly framed the train of the gown.

Advice for Brides-to-Be

Alex shared that her advice for future brides is to enjoy the day and not to worry about the little things. “The day goes by so fast,” Alex said, “and I think it’s so important to just step aside and really take it in and appreciate all the people that are there to celebrate you!

The Fall Wedding

Type A Catering catered the reception. “I got so many compliments from all the guests on how much they loved it!” Alex said.

Instead of a traditional cocktail hour, wedding guests attended a bourbon tour at the distillery! After the tour, guests were treated to a charcuterie board!

Alex shared that her favorite part of the wedding was the first touch that she and Maxwell did before the ceremony.

“We didn’t want to do a first look and hadn’t even planned to do a first touch, but we ended up getting some of the bridal party pictures done quicker than expected,” Alex shared. Therefore, their photographer suggested that the couple could do a first touch to relieve some of their anxiousness.

“It ended up being one of my favorite moments,” Alex said. “We were able to hold hands around a corner and just talk about how we were feeling.”

Alex loved how comforting it was to be able to talk to Maxwell before the wedding began.

Additionally, the couple chose to write their own vows. “That was so special and something that I will forever cherish and never forget,” she said. “It definitely was very emotional reading those to each other but well worth it.”

The couple honeymooned in Europe right after their wedding! They spent 13 days in Italy, France, and Spain. “This was our first time in Europe and we were so excited to explore a different country together,” she said. The couple visited Rome, Naples, Cagliari, Florence, Pisa, Monaco, Marseille, Palma Majorca, Ibiza and Barcelona!

“It honestly was the trip of a lifetime and we are already talking about going back again!”

We loved being a part of Alex and Maxwell’s special day! Congratulations to the happy couple!
