Happy Friday! We recently caught up with our real bride, Mikaela! Mikaela married her husband, Chris, this May! Mikaela and Chris met in college at the Mizzou homecoming blood drive. They were friends for a few months until he asked her on a date at a Christmas party, and they have been doing life together ever since!
Mikaela and Chris became husband and wife on May 8th, 2021! We asked Mikaela to describe her wedding, “The vision I had for our wedding was romantic, elegant and a touch of vintage. We both also wanted our wedding to be a total PARTY, and it was!”
“My favorite memory of our wedding day (besides every second of it) was reading our own vows to each other. We had to do traditional vows for our ceremony in the church but wrote our own to read to each other afterwards and I love that we had that special moment just between the two of us.”
Mikaela wore a romantic Cizzy a-line gown and looked so stunning! It had intricate lace on the bodice, with a gorgeous flowy tulle skirt. We asked Mikaela how she knew she found the perfect gown, “My dress was one that was picked out for me by the Fab Frocks ladies, based on what I told them I was looking for. I saw it hanging when I walked in and knew right then and there that it was the dress for me. I tried it on and didn’t want to take it off! Addie insisted I try on other dresses, and even though every dress was lovely, I kept saying “but I just want to put on the first dress again!”. I put “my dress” back on, added a veil and knew it was the one!”
“My advice to future brides would be to not worry and just soak in every second (so cliche I know, but it’s true when people say it goes so fast!) One of my friends told me “If it’s not done by the Thursday before your wedding, it’s not important.” and that really helped me not stress about the little things and just enjoy our day!
“I wanted to include something from my mom and grandma’s weddings in my wedding. I ended up wrapping a piece of lace from my mom’s wedding dress around my bouquet, and added a broach that my grandma wore on her wedding day to the lace. It was my “something old”, “something borrowed” and also something extra special to me.”
