Real Couple, Ashley and Casey celebrated their wedding day with family and friends on St. Patrick’s Day 2018 at Boulevard Brewery. Casey (or Captain Casey “Psycho” Habluetzel as he is known in the Air Force) and Ashley didn’t have the typical wedding planning experience. The Air Force took them to Japan during their engagement so their wedding planning was done through the help of technology and close family and friends! Read more about their story below!
Fab Frocks: Tell us about your wedding! When it was, where it was at, and who helped put it together.
Fab Frocks Bride, Ashley: Our wedding was on Saturday, March 17, 2018 (St. Patrick’s Day) at Boulevard Brewery. Since we were planning the wedding from Japan, I had so much help from so many people! My best friend and maid of honor, Kayla Donnelly and my mother-in-law, Patti Habluetzel were instrumental in planning our big day! Our wedding had a lot of DIY elements so we were so grateful to have our loved ones help us stick to our style and budget.
Fab Frocks: How did you pick your wedding gown?
Ashley: My story behind my gown was pretty unique and ever changing. It started with a cocktail dress that I bought online to wear to the courthouse to sign the wedding paperwork. Since we are in the military and were moving to Japan, we had to be officially married on paper a while before we were able to have a wedding ceremony. Initially, I wanted to use the same dress from online for the ceremony with a simple, floor length, white skirt over it. I brought the dress and my best friend to Fabulous Frocks. We found the perfect skirt with Angela’s help! But after some more thought, I decided that the short dress was too busy to use as an under dress for the long skirt I had fallen in love with. Instead, I found a simple white tube dress that better matched the elegant simplicity of the skirt. It turned out beautiful, and I was very happy that I changed my mind last minute!
Fab Frocks: Any advice for future brides?
Ashley: Throughout the planning process, I learned not to sweat the small stuff and not to waste time or money on “traditional things” that were expected but unwanted by my husband and me. Be true to your own style as a couple and don’t feel like you have to incorporate everyone else’s opinions. We went with a laid back, minimally decorated party with pizza and beer, and everyone loved it! It was easy and everyone kept commenting, “This party is so you guys!“
We are so honored to be part of this real couple, Ashley and Casey’s big day! We thank them for their service and wish them all the best in their love!
